Another month has nearly gone by, and wouldn't you know it.... We are back to school in just a few weeks! Summer, as it always seems, has not been long enough.  Partially due to the fact that I have spent almost half of the last month teaching first aid classes (and renewing my instructor certification for another 3 years).  Also because everything has been so expensive: bills, food, fuel, that we have been trying to do as much as we can at home without raking up more costs.  While this may not be everyone's idea of a "great summer', I'd rather make memories with the kids and hubby all throughout the year than try and push it into the summer (when everyone else is trying to vacation) and when I am mainly on EI. In the last 8 months, we have managed to: make a day trip to Drumheller, go for a 1 night camping trip with Scouts, gone to the spray park a number of times, spent the day at the inlaws playing outside on a homemade slip-n-slide, been attempting to ride wit...

Well, once again, time has blown past me so quickly it seems, and once again I find myself realizing I haven't blogged in months. *facepalm*   This school year went by at a rapid pace and it feels as though I blinked and it was gone.  At the last week of school, not one of us could fathom that it was the end of the school year.  It felt as though it was only May Long Weekend, and that we still had time to go before summer break.   Now we are almost a month into summer break and I keep wondering when time will resume a normal pace!!   So far this year, we've gone camping, acquired fish (some have died), planted a garden, stitched more, read more, taught more classes, and yet, feel as though we have accomplished nothing of substance.  Maybe I am too hard on myself for setting so many goals and targets for myself, but I want to be successful, not only as a person but also as a parent.  It just feels sometimes like it is all too much and there is no...

Another month has flown by!  What a January that was... The Covid wheel finally called our number, and one of our household tested positive for Covid.  Poor M1 was not thrilled about having to stay in their own room for the most part of 10 days.  M2 hated that they couldn't play together.  And then M2's entire class went online for a week due to the high number of cases. So for the entire month of January, I was able to work 6.5 days.... Thank goodness for EI or I would have never gotten through.   Then, the first day I was set to go back to work, I wound up in the hospital in the middle of the night for excruciating abdominal pains.  So far, we have run a bunch of blood work, an abdominal xray, and an abdominal ultrasound....and we wait on results. WCB is ending my physiotherapy claim in the next week, and our insurance doesn't cover much for physio.  Here's hoping we will figure something out soon.  Also I'm finally back on a regular ...

January 17, 2022

Well, it's a new year, but it's still the same chaos it seems.  Covid is still here, and we are dealing with the Omicron variant now.  Our household so far has remained covid-free as far as we know, but with how fast and easily this variant spreads, it's likely only a matter of time.  Knock on wood. And if that wasn't bad enough, Mother Nature has decided to have her way with us this winter season.  What do I mean by that?  Well 2 weeks of -40, and so far 4 days of freezing rain, making the roads incredibly treacherous and so easy to get stuck on.  Today the weather went from above zero and raining, to just under zero and freezing rain, to blowing snow, strong winds and -20C.  So yea, I'm sooooo looking forward to the next couple of days. I have read 3 books so far this year, with a goal of 24 for all of 2022.  Am listening to one on Audible right now, and reading another.  Last year I read 13! Also working on a cross stitching project ...

August 26, 2021

Well, it's finally here, the end of August and the start of the new school year!  I don't know whether to be happy and excited or sad and depressed.  It feels like it's gone by way to quickly and we could really use a little bit more vacation time, but also, how is 2022 nearly here???   The upcoming school year is going to be a busy one.  With both minions in school this year, and extra-curriculars 3 school nights a week, plus likely classes or other extra-curricular activities (Scouts likes to do weekend activities occasionally) means that it's going to get hectic.  But when it comes down to it, seeing the minions grow and develop skills that will benefit them as they get older is definitely worth it.   I started stitching again, although not as much as I wish I would, my brain just can't get into it and my anxiety levels keep spiking randomly.  Well, not as random all the time, sometimes I know exactly what's causing it but can't do anything ab...

August 15, 2021!

Well, 2021 has flown by.  Of course, life got hectic once again and blogging fell to the back burner.  As you can tell, the last blog was in January *face palm*.  I actually wanted to stick with this more frequently, but, well that didn't happen as planned.   What has happened since January?  Well a whole lot, as over half a year has gone by.     We survived the school year, and the next school year starts in less than a month.  Both Minions will be attending school, so I get a bit more "me time" during the day.  I've ran so many first aid classes this year, that I will likely hit my goal of 200 students in 2021, which will be nice.  Weight loss has been successful, almost 50lbs lost in 8 months!  25 more to go to goal weight.  Eating healthier, exercising more, reading and crafting more.  However, still hitting those mental lows that knock me down quite solidly.   Our garden started slow, but has been gro...

January 22, 2021

Two weeks back at work now, and I have to say, I did miss it.  I resume teaching first aid classes tomorrow, so once again anxiety kicks in.  It always does.  Why?  Cause while it is still a private company, I don't know all the staff, and I always get nervous leading up to teaching people I don't know.  When people I know are there, I am a lot more comfortable the night before and morning of before I arrive!   It hasn't been overly eventful here.  We had quite the wind storm the other day, so that was entertaining, but no damage here thankfully.  Some neighbours were not as lucky though, downed trees, fences, toppled BBQs, etc.  It didn't bring the snow we expected, but it did start snowing softly today.  Maybe we will actually get a little bit of winter!  January has been unseasonally warm so far this year, so a little bit of snow will be nice. M1 lost his first tooth last night, so we had a very excited minion last night an...
